Spanish Red Cross headquarters in Alcorcón

We have placed the architecture at the service of the citizens who use the building, those who work in it and those who are responsible for caring for and maintaining it. At the same time, the rigorous geometric and formal structure of this small office building for the Red Cross allows for a very compact, flexible and simple spatial organisation. Certain nuances in the building's volume, some to mark the entrance and others to transform it into a “super-efficient” thermal machine, and the specific materialisation of the work and its finishes, will make it vibrate with light and give it the robust and institutional character that is essential in a public building.

The position of the building on the plot leaves two small wooded gardens, one at the front with twelve sweetgum trees separating the main entrance from the vehicle entrance, and another at the back with twelve melias forming an open-air classroom. The new headquarters of the Alcorcón Red Cross is a friendly and optimistic building, warm and bright in winter, and shaded and cool in summer, minimising energy consumption to almost zero, and confidently conveying the values of solidarity and collaborative and voluntary citizenship of the Red Cross.
