Chamartín Offices
The workspace is lived in for many hours and for many years and therefore its architecture must configure a pleasant and varied space. This project aims for an efficient and ‘elegant’ office but also an architecture that enhances the street, the neighbourhood and the functional workspace. The treatment of the access and the image that the building presents to the city and its employees has been very important to us, in order to obtain a unique character of its own, i.e. built on its own terms.
The inclusion of vegetation and trees in the project is done by allocating wide spaces that accompany the daily life and work in the offices; outside, in a patterned square that is also a visual gift to the city, and inside in two ‘lobbies’ or galleries with abundant natural light where people meet with the vegetation.
The geometric accuracy of the construction, the structure and the orderly layout of the programme, as well as the repetition of façade and interior elements, allow for good execution logistics that contribute to the speed and economy of the work. The location, orientation and design of the façades incorporate the most elementary and efficient solar protection and utilisation devices, such as galleries at midday with sun control and awnings that protect from the low and intense rising summer sun. The position of the building on the plot means that the volume of the nearest constructions protects it from the hot west of Madrid.
