Urban Regeneration of the National Administrative Centre
Bogotá's green space is a gigantic constellation of small and large islands of vegetation. Extensive urbanisation and the hypertrophied road network have fragmented the natural fabric beyond description. The search for links between green islands capable of gradually rebuilding a capillary system of vegetation networks is already underway in the city. The new CAN project will contribute to this effort by creating a true urban environmental corridor linking the UNAL and Virgilio Barco Park.
The proposal is to organise the new CAN around water, the essential element of the Bogotá savannah landscape. The heart of the new urban centre will be a landscape constructed from technically managed natural elements. This is not spontaneous nature, but rather natural material at the service of urban space. A new urban space where nature and artifice meet, where greenery moves, opens and closes; connects and articulates, separates and differentiates.
