Atlético de Madrid Park
A new park is defined as acontinuation of the areas of Madrid Río known as the "Salón de Pinos"to the north and the "Arganzuela" park to the south. The project actsas a link between these two areas that work with different languages, but withsimilar elements typical of the Madrid Río Park.
The park is clearly divided into three zones due to the altimetric differences produced by the tunnel covering the section of Calle 30.
We could consider the first zone to be next to the banks of the Manzanares River. This is where a winding cycle path connects the two parks of Madrid Río through a large pine forest, with clearings that allow you to look out over the river.
On the other hand, at a lower level, is the pedestrianised section of the Paseo de la Virgen del Puerto, which allows quiet access and eliminates the cul-de-sac of the roundabout on Calle del Duque de Tovar. Here we will find a staircase and an accessible ramp that allow us to connect the unevenness generated between this area and the upper platform. In the central area where the Vicente Calderón stadium used to be, we will find a large sunken and elongated meadow, with circular tops in the shape of a "Roman circus" that evokes the recreational and spectacular nature of the old football pitch.
These two areas are connected by a series of large plant slopes which, through the topography, soften the high walls resulting from the covering of Calle 30.
