Masterplan of Paranoa's Lake
Lake Paranoá was artificially built on the course of the Paranoá River along with the layout of the city of Brasilia in 1959. Since then, its shores have been deteriorated and privatised with the construction of housing. And the border it establishes on its northern bank with the city is still vacant and its use is very scarce. The project consists of revising the ecological conditions of the edge to restore its riparian strip, and to connect this strip through the watercourses formed by the streams that drain into it, with the network of ecological corridors that penetrate the urban fabric of Brasilia; and to propose a set of uses that can socially and economically activate its banks so that the city can enjoy this exceptional place.
This is a complex project on an enormous scale - the perimeter of its banks is 80 km long - and therefore requires a very detailed study of some fragments of the shore, to make it more easily accessible, in some cases, and to resolve free access along its entire length, in other cases. In addition, small architectures are proposed to serve as a visual attraction in the almost flat territory of the lake.
