Bird Watching
All the trails, viewpoints, and meeting areas that are part of this proposal are, in turn, parts of a larger system, yet to be crystallized, which is called to traverse the entire island as a comprehensive route for birdwatching in Tenerife.
Currently, it is a set of very heterogeneous areas, some more consolidated, others more informal, in better or worse condition. Under a common intervention concept, all these disconnected spaces and trails that cross the island, from the most urban to the most natural, can become a territorial connection system with which it will be possible to delve into the natural experience of Tenerife.
Not only does the system not lose sight of its potential to become a tourist infrastructure for travelers, hikers, bird and star watchers, or nature lovers in general, but it also represents an improvement in local connectivity. Its implementation involves a review and improvement of what already exists. This new accessibility, and its ability to attract visitors, will have a direct impact on the inhabited centers of many municipalities. At the infrastructure level, their own network access is improved; at the development level, it is foreseeable that the influx of visitors will require new services to expand the existing ones —public transportation, accommodation, hospitality services, guides, translators—.
The strategy focuses on a diverse system: a few quality, highly recognizable elements that help to understand the intervention as a unified whole. The simplicity of the proposal does not impose itself on nature; on the contrary, through a careful design, it will add more quality to the experience, accompanying the urban visitor on their journey, helping them to engage in BW activity with safety and respect for the environment, with spaces to rest and protect themselves, have fun, and always be able to orient themselves so as not to get lost in their wanderings.
