The Laredo Promenade today is the result of a succession of works carried out over more than fifty years that make it formally disjointed and with multiple functional problems, unacceptable in a modern, inclusive, comfortable and accessible public space for all.

The project we propose is based on three essential elements: [1] to resolve its functionality with a robust and easy to maintain project: the location of public services, uses and easements related to the coast, circulation and accessibility, public lighting and homogeneous urban furniture with a timeless design; [2] to propose an ecological vision of the formidable dune system of La Salvé beach on which the Promenade is located, with the renaturalisation of the mouth of the Mantilla river and the incorporation of the vegetation and atmosphere of the dunes into the Promenade itself; and [3] to build a legible, recognisable and related identity with Laredo through the selection of the materials and details of the promenade, and with the construction of a viewpoint - the Circle - which will be a meeting point and a space to see and understand the natural and social history of this exceptional place.
