Council House
Garganta de los Montes, Spain
Ginés Garrido + Francisco Domouso + Emilio Rodríguez
The building is built on a site with an irregular perimeter adjacent to the Town Hall. The staircase, elevator and services are attached to the party wall, regularizing the geometry of the site. The space is freed up for a double-height multipurpose room, which can be completely open to the Town Hall square, a club for the elderly, which is extended with a patio that already existed on the plot, and three offices for the various associations of the town. The interior, with a self-ordering geometry, seeks the light and warmth of the south. The exterior, made of wood and stone, fits the architecture of the walls and fences of the village. A few openings open onto the street where the interior order points it out.
