Conde de Orgaz Housing
The project is located on a splendid plot on a border between very different neighbourhoods in Madrid. Its south-eastern boundary is the Avenida de los Madroños of the garden city of Parque Conde Orgaz, a beautiful tree-lined street lined with large single-family homes with leafy gardens. On the opposite side of the street is Calle Silvano, which marks the boundary of the Canillas neighbourhood. Here the urban environment is rougher and the volume of the buildings grows sharply and the vegetation disappears completely.
The configuration of the complex clearly links the project to the Conde Orgaz Park and turns its back on Canillas. Car and pedestrian access is via Avenida Los Madroños. The volumes of the dwellings are organised in such a way as to overlook the garden city and turn their backs on the denser neighbourhood. All the dwellings have large terraces that overlook a large communal garden, identifying a well-defined way of life that corresponds to the suburban model but which, in this case, is located in a more central location. The project proposes and finishes off the series of magnificent residential buildings designed by José Antonio Corrales on this site from the 1970s onwards.
