Sofia Embankment Multifuntional Development

The project uses as its urban and morphological model the pattern of the built fabric in the centre of the city of Moscow. From this model it takes the closed and urban character of the exterior of the blocks in contact with the pavements and streets and a more picturesque and varied character, generally very tree-lined, freer and more landscaped if you like, in the interior of the blocks. Therefore, in the interior, small angles and bends give the project a greater sensorial and visual richness and, at the same time, a more domestic scale that easily constructs a more 'familiar' scene. These perspectival games, foreshortened views or trompe-l'œil also construct a picturesque space that always has the capacity to surprise.

The pedestrian walkway linking Victory Park with the Sofiyskaya Embankment and the river bank, crossing this residential complex, is located to the east of the plot and contains the commercial activities required by the programme. In this way, the more urban activity of the plot participates and activates the pedestrian passage and the residential complex is located in a single enclosure, optimising its open spaces that become larger and with a single access to have a safer and more exclusive community.

This is an exceptional plot, on the banks of the Moskova River and opposite the Kremlin, bordering the palace that houses the British ambassador's residence. The project accommodates large-scale housing and numerous services and communal spaces that bring to the project the 'exclusivity and luxury' in keeping with the formidable uniqueness of the site.
