Valdebebas Housing
The volumes are arranged around a huge central garden, using an architectural solution halfway between the closed block and the open block, taking the best of each of these two models. The complex is made up of four blocks that are located on the perimeter of the plot and are oriented in different ways to provide all the dwellings with optimal sunlight. All of them enjoy unobstructed views, always with a garden in front of them and with the nearest building at a distance of more than sixty metres in some cases, and one hundred and twenty metres in others.
These four blocks do not occupy the corners of the plot and avoid overlapping each other. Thus, the views from the large interior garden extend outwards from the complex in all directions. The building destined for tertiary uses is outside the area of the dwellings, occupying an area completely independent of them and with accesses that are also completely independent of them. But the most important and extraordinary aspect of the project is the favourable proportion between the buildable surface area and the plot surface area, which makes it possible to free up one hectare, 10,000 m2 of land for communal uses on the ground floor. This unique circumstance in Valdebebas makes it possible to provide the complex with an interior garden of extraordinary qualities.
