About Us

Francisco Burgos and Ginés Garrido founded the studio Burgos & Garrido Architects [BGA] in 2002 in Madrid.

BGA is an architecture, landscape and urban planning firm that aims to explore the relationship between architecture and its social and urban context. Consequently, the office has an eminently public profile, focusing on the design and execution of projects with a strong social commitment and environmental sustainability. The study has an open structure and collaborative methods that allow the development of interdisciplinary projects.

With a trajectory marked by urban regeneration and ecosystem integration, among its most outstanding projects is the Madrid Rio park, internationally recognized with the XII Veronica Rudge Green Prize in Urban Design at Harvard University. BGA's work also encompasses collective housing projects, many of them awarded by the FAD and the Spanish Architecture Biennial. In recent years, the studio has expanded its field of action to the design of bridges and the rehabilitation of large infrastructures such as the New La Paz University Hospital. Internationally, he has completed projects in Russia, Holland, Slovenia, Peru, Switzerland and Australia, participating in numerous competitions and consolidating himself as a reference in contemporary architecture.

At the same time, and not separately, both partners combine their study with committed academic work at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSAM), having been guest professors at internationally recognized universities such as “UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design”, “Ecole d'Architecture Athenaeum” in Lausanne or “GSD Harvard University”.
